AI & Cyber Security Event - September 2025
Last week, we proudly hosted our AI & Cyber Security Event at the Bank House Hotel, Spa and Golf Club, in partnership with Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, sponsored by Hayward Wright.
The event brought together experts, partners, and businesses from across the region to discuss one of the most pressing issues facing the legal sector and wider business community today: how to harness the opportunities of Artificial Intelligence while defending against ever-evolving cyber threats.
It was a fantastic day of knowledge sharing, thought-provoking insights, and practical advice for businesses looking to stay secure and future-ready.
A Day of Expert Insights
We were privileged to hear from a diverse panel of speakers, each bringing unique expertise to the stage:
James Squire (Warwickshire Police) opened with a powerful look into the realities of cybercrime, highlighting the types of attacks businesses face and how they can take proactive steps to safeguard their operations.
Dylan Hayes (Blacklight Software) shared an engaging overview of the current state of AI, exploring how the technology is being applied today and the challenges and opportunities it presents for businesses, including the legal profession.
Paul Abbott (Director, Knights of Old) delivered one of the day’s most impactful sessions, offering an open and honest account of how his business went into administration following a cyber-attack two years ago. His story was a stark reminder of why robust cyber defences are essential.
Andre Lynch (ConnectWise) demonstrated how AI is already being used in cyber security, offering valuable insights into how technology can strengthen defences against increasingly sophisticated threats.
Paul Keasey KPM MSc (THEMIS - Powered by EBC Group) introduced THEMIS, our cutting-edge solution designed to protect businesses against cybercrime, explaining how and why it was developed to meet today’s challenges.
Finally, John MacDonald (EBC Group) closed the event sharing an array of eye-opening statistics that highlighted the scale and seriousness of today’s threats. He concluded by reinforcing that LawFinity and EBC Group are here to help businesses stay protected, offering the expertise and support needed to navigate this complex landscape.

Alongside the speakers, attendees had the chance to meet with a range of exhibitors who provided valuable resources and expertise, including Canon, Dell Technologies, SJL Insurance Services, Warwickshire Police, Bankside College, and Edwards Insurance Brokers. Their contributions helped provide a well-rounded view of how businesses can safeguard themselves in today’s digital landscape.
