The Challenge

In light of the service provided from both their Managed Print and IT solutions, Talbots also looked to EBC Group to implement a new telephony service

Talbots, first contacted EBC Group to address their outdated print environment. Consistency in print was proving to be a real issue, in addition to the overall cost of maintaining old print devices. 

Since then, Talbots have chosen EBC Group to also assess the state of their IT infrastructure, which was becoming increasingly disparate and in continual need of costly maintenance. 

In light of the service provided from both their Managed Print and IT solutions, Talbots also looked to EBC Group to implement a new telephony service, which replaced their outdated and costly ISDN lines. 

The Approach

Actively consolidating hardware throughout their headoffice and local sites.

  • Replaced all desktop printers and old copiers with over a dozen new multi-functional devices, actively consolidating hardware throughout their headoffice and local sites.
  • Installed nine new virtual servers.
  • A new email server to handle high numbers of emails each day, including a new spam filtering system to eliminate unwanted junk mail.

  • Replacement of outdated software, and implementation of new anitvirus software to protect servers and workstations.

  • New private circuit.

  • Eliminated outdated ISDN lines, and converted these into SIP trunks.

  •  Installed new fibre connections in all offices.

  •  Introduction of software based telephony system, Swyx.

The Solution

Software is now continually maintained and updated as part of a managed service

  • Aside from gaining additional floor space where dated copiers had once stood, Talbots have gained a higher quality of print that provides consistency throughout their printed documents
  • In addition to this, Talbots have also received a fully managed and proactive service, that includes remote diagnostics.
  • Reduced hardware and increased efficiency through nine new virtual servers
  • New mail server handles up to 8,500 email per day, with the spam filtering system used to separate junk from important client matters
  • Software is now continually maintained and updated as part of a managed service, with antivirus software helping adhere to regulation and compliance procedures.
